About The Position

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. The Integrated Software Responsible Engineer (IRE) reports to the MK2 software director and serves as a technical authority and integration lead across multiple software product domains including flight software, simulation, software tools and software integration. This role ensures cohesive development, seamless integration, and consistent technical standards across interdependent software systems critical to mission success. You will directly impact the history of space exploration which will require your dedication and attention towards safe and reliable spaceflight. Requirements

  • Bachelors degree or higher degree in Software or Engineering related field.
  • 8+ years of software development experience
  • Proven software development in C/C++, Python
  • Strong familiarity with Linux
  • Strong familiarity with real-time software development and analysis
  • Familiarity with agile software development processes.
  • Experienced in full lifecycle software engineering. Including system design, architecting requirements, software implementation, software verification, system integration and release.
  • Confirmed skills in software build automation, continuous integration, configuration management, verification and deployment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Passion for spaceflight and space exploration.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships,

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of proven ability in developing software test applications in aerospace safety critical applications.
  • Experience crafting and developing software plans and procedures for aerospace operations.
  • Experience with spacecraft subsystems and associated software.
  • Experience with NPR 7150.2.
  • Experience with fault-tolerant software design.
  • Understanding of space-based communications protocols such as CCSDS.
  • Familiarity with NASA cFS.
  • Familiarity with NASA Trick.
  • Experience as an agile product owner for a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a deputy RE to the software lead for all software products
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight across multiple software domains (flight software, simulation, integration, tools, etc.)
  • Establish and maintain cross-domain software architecture and interface standards
  • Lead technical integration activities between software systems, ensuring compatibility and proper functionality
  • Review and approve test plans and procedures
  • Oversee software testing activities
  • Analyze test results and address deficiencies
  • Identify and resolve cross-domain technical issues and integration challenges
  • Serve as the technical authority for software design decisions that impact multiple domains
  • Coordinate software verification and validation activities across integrated systems
  • Manage technical risks that span multiple software domains
  • Represent software engineering concerns in program-level technical reviews and decision forums
  • Ensure compliance with organizational software development processes and standards
