About the position

As a Field Service Technician in our IPS PowerServe division, you will perform testing and maintenance on low, medium and high voltage power distribution equipment for our commercial and industrial clients. We are NETA accredited and perform testing under NETA standards to ensure reliability, safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Perform testing and calibrations on Instrument Transformers and Power Transformers including Doble, Insulation Resistance, Transformer Turns Ratio (TTR)
  • Conduct cable testing including Power Factor, Tan Delta, VLF, Hipot
  • Test circuit breakers and switchgear of low, medium & high voltage
  • Perform Primary & Secondary Injection Testing
  • Conduct protective relay testing including electro-mechanical and solid state
  • Test for continuity and ground fault
  • Assess power quality
  • Troubleshoot, inspect, and perform start-ups on switchgear, circuit breakers, cables, transformers, protective relays, VFDs, ATS
  • Service and repair equipment including inspections, diagnosis of issues, replacing parts, and making recommendations
  • Adhere to all safety protocols including LOTO
  • Contribute to a strong team environment through assisting teammates
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding issues and resolutions
  • Complete documentation and reports on work performed

Requirements

  • Must have some testing experience of low and medium voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers and/or protective relays
  • NETA Certification (II, III) highly preferred or equivalent skills/experience to become NETA Certified
  • Journeyman electrician experience is a plus
  • Power DB experience is a plus
  • Requires 3+ years of driving experience along with a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, operating manuals and safety guidelines
  • Ability to work flexible hours, overtime and weekends as required, willingness to be on call
