About The Position

The IGP Strategy & Industry Leadership Intern will directly support the Principal, IGP Strategy & Advocacy, in executing high‑priority 2026 strategic objectives. The intern will help translate strategy into execution by enabling leadership development, maintaining and communicating the IGP 3‑year roadmap, coordinating regulatory engagements, supporting IEEE thought leadership, and facilitating cross‑functional alignment. This role emphasizes strategic synthesis, coordination, and communication, rather than purely technical analysis. The intern will work across engineering, regulatory, risk, and external industry forums, gaining exposure to how utility strategy, regulation, and investment planning intersect.

Requirements

  • Qualified candidates are pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering at an accredited University
  • Students must be continuing their education towards their degree during and/or after the internship
  • PG&E is unable to provide VISA sponsorship to students on an F-1, J-1 or other student visa for this position.

  • Interest in grid resilience and reliability, electric grid optimization and efficiency, regulatory compliance and policy analysis, grid modernization and smart grid technologies, and renewable energy integration (e.g., solar, wind)

Responsibilities

  • Track and support committee and industry participation (IEEE, utility forums, working groups) for Expert and Principal Engineers
  • Maintain visibility into external partnerships and committee assignments, highlighting opportunities to expand PG&E’s industry influence and learning
  • Maintain the IGP 3‑year roadmap artifact, including updates, version control, and dependency tracking
  • Support preparation and documentation of quarterly roadmap health reviews, capturing risks, changes, and decisions
  • Assist in developing stakeholder‑ready presentations and briefing materials to socialize the roadmap across Electric, Gas, PowerGen, and other functional areas
  • Track roadmap milestones and prepare executive‑level summaries for leadership review
  • Support the Principal in serving as the central coordination point for regulatory inquiries affecting Team IGP (e.g., RDF, High DER, TPR)
  • Log and track incoming regulatory requests, meetings, and data asks to ensure timely acknowledgment and routing
  • Assist in coordinating briefing materials, presentations, and responses to support on‑time, high‑quality regulatory deliverables
  • Maintain a lightweight tracking dashboard for regulatory engagements and deliverables
  • Support development of IGP value framework white papers for IEEE ITSLC, including research, outline development, graphics, and editorial support
  • Track milestones for drafting, peer review, publication, and dissemination
  • Assist in developing an industry engagement and dissemination plan (presentations, webinars, workshops)
  • Support preparation of follow‑on white papers and industry presentations that build on the initial framework
  • Document newly created processes
  • Develop templates and tools to streamline future documentation efforts
  • Identity and track data to monitor progress and document it in reports
  • Maintain dashboards and visualizations to make data insights more accessible
  • Collaborate with team members to support various strategic initiatives
  • Assist in preparing presentations and reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Conduct research and analysis to support decision-making processes
