About The Position

In a team environment, provide face to face crisis intervention and pre-admission assessments in the community to those experiencing a behavioral health crisis. Includes performing clinical assessments for individuals who present as a danger to self or others within the community. Will respond to all appropriate Integrated Care Team (ICT 2-5) requests in a timely manner, deploying as a team with the Wichita Police Department (WPD) to incidents where the services of a behavioral health professional may be more effective in addressing the incident. Support suicide prevention efforts in the community while upholding the mission and vision of COMCARE of Sedgwick County.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree.
  • Must be licensed by the Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board as an LMSW, LMFT, LMLP, LPC, or LP.
  • Employees hired with a temporary license must test for permanent licensure within 90 days of hire.
  • Per Sedgwick County Policy, this is a driving level position that requires a valid US driver’s license and current proof of automobile insurance.
  • Must have access to personal passenger vehicle to complete the driving duties of the position.
  • Meet the specifications as outlined in the CMHC/CCBHC licensing standards and pass KBI, DCF child abuse check, adult abuse registry, and motor vehicle screens.
  • Must complete orientations and training provided by Sedgwick County and COMCARE.

Nice To Haves

  • Three years as a QMHP in a mental health setting.
  • May be clinically licensed by the Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board as an LCP or LCPC, LCMFT, or LSCSW.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in all appropriate ICT 2-5 calls in person, accompanying and assisting the ICT 2-5 team members.
  • Conduct mental health assessments in the community with the ICT 2-5 to determine a patient’s immediate mental health needs.
  • Provide brief focused therapy to address the immediate mental health needs of patients who present as currently dangerous.
  • Intake/assessment to include history, presenting problems and diagnoses using DSM-5-TR criteria.
  • Assess current level of dangerousness for patients using the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale.
  • Make appropriate referrals to other agencies, programs, or departments as required.
  • Contact service providers to request and arrange services; coordinate and monitor services rendered.
  • Create and initiate plans to ensure patients attend mental health appointments.
  • Support the clinical staff in the community by assisting with Mobile Crisis Unit requests.
  • Complete all progress notes in the electronic medical record (EMR) in accordance with CCBHC and COMCARE guidelines which meet requirements for medical necessity, goal-directed treatment, and client response to treatment within prescribed timelines.
  • Documentation meets minimum Medicaid standards for content and quality.
  • Completes in the EMR Notes for Record, precautions, authorization for release of records, releases of information safety documents, and other documentation as required and/or recommended within established deadlines.
  • Assessment tools are to be accurate and completed within the timeframe established for the particular screen.
  • Enter AIMS data as needed and respond to AIMS data staff in a timely manner.
  • Completes court reports or treatment summaries within required timelines as set by the entity requesting these documents.
  • Coordinate and/or assist with a special program or project at Crisis which enhances or aids in the delivery of services to mental health consumers.
  • Maintain knowledge of current legal and ethical issues as they relate to behavioral health.
