Under the direction of the Director of Intake, the Intake Therapist assures that smooth, trauma-informed and orderly processes are followed for telephonic and in-person assessments to assist the physician in the identification of an appropriate level of care for potential patients. The Intake Therapist is responsible for initial contact with referral sources, potential patients, coordinating the referral and intake process and the admission process, providing trauma-informed assessment/treatment of patients, and ability to effectively and timely serve patients, as well as maintaining communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff. This position interfaces closely with both internal hospital staff, facility physicians, as well as referring hospitals, patients, families, and community referral sources. The working position of Intake Therapist will complete Intake Therapist duties as well being cross trained in other Intake Department roles such as BHT or Intake Coordinator responsibilities to assist if needed. The Intake Therapist will also at times be responsible for the verification and prior authorization of insurance benefits as needed.
