About The Position

The position involves providing initial contact for the hospital admission process, assessing and triaging patients for appropriateness for admission during the initial assessment. The role includes completing the intake process, which involves related paperwork, reviewing, and obtaining signatures from all patients or authorized persons. Additionally, the position requires assisting with verifying insurance benefits and gathering demographic information, as well as preparing medical charts and creating patient charts to ensure all required information is documented appropriately. The candidate will discuss behavioral and psychiatric issues with appropriate staff as needed and consult or seek supervision from the Director of Admissions when necessary. The role also involves providing and documenting appropriate referrals and reasons if unable to admit patients, accessing and triaging patients for appropriateness and eligibility over the phone or in person, troubleshooting any problems that may occur during the shift, maintaining up-to-date required training, and performing other related assignments as directed by the Director of Admissions.

Requirements

  • Must have a current TEXAS license (LPC-A, LPC, LMSW, LCSW)
  • Master's Degree in the Behavioral Health field (Counseling, Psychology or Social Work)
  • 2 years of behavioral health experience preferred
  • Work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is needed
  • Able to multi-task and knowledgeable with computer software and type proficiently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be detail-oriented
  • Knowledgeable with crisis center preferred
  • Professional and pleasant demeanor

Responsibilities

  • Provide initial contact for the Hospital admission process
