About The Position

The Intake Specialist is responsible for supporting the transition of families from homelessness to housing by providing support with intakes and case management services. This position reports to the Program Manager.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or Associates degree preferred, equivalent work and/or education experience considered.
  • Equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Experience in direct service related to housing or family services.
  • Experience working with families and children.
  • Comfortable working in a faith-based organization.
  • Must be able to execute work in the alignment of core values of the organization.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, including both written and verbal communications.
  • Must be able to work independently, as well as effectively within a team.
  • Must be able to work well with colleagues, board members, volunteers, and community members.
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to follow through on projects in a fast-paced, often pressured environment.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft office products and Google suite office products.
  • Documented valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and administer intakes for new families coming into shelter.
  • Work as a case aid with families receiving services in FP shelter programs by assisting with referrals, applications, resource attainment, etc.
  • Evaluate families’ access to basic needs including: health, education, housing, and child care and coordinating connection with resources within the community.
  • Maintain data integrity and documentation to ensure private and statewide databases are up-to-date and accurate.
  • Coordinate relationships with community agencies.
  • Assist with grant compliance as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support the agency.
  • Assist with shelter room transitions and weekly room checks.
  • Provide light duty cleaning.
  • Assess inventory of basic need items on site and restock items.
  • Gather and disperse food and clothing donations to families.
  • Assist in meal planning, preparation and meal distribution to families, as needed.
  • Assist and coordinate in-kind donations and volunteer opportunities with families and partner agencies.
