About the position

The Intake Specialist II manages and performs client intake function, including, but not limited to DAANES entry and assistance in applying for financial assistance. They will complete substance use assessments as scheduled. Flexibility and effective time management practices are a must. This position requires self-confidence, creativity, and the ability to exercise individual discretion or judgment. Sound organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks are a must. They must be able to devote the time and energy required to ensure work is complete, and positive, and supports individuals, agencies, and the community. They must possess a high level of crisis tolerance, and the ability to work through crisis situations in a professional, therapeutic and positive manner. Must be able to perform duties involving light lifting, and possess an ability to sit for long periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for disbursement and completion of all intake paperwork (i.e., consent forms, program policies, etc.) with clients for both residential and non-residential SUD programs.
  • Work with URS to obtain funding for all admissions and the collection of documents for incorporation into client files (assessments, insurance information, etc.)
  • Provide program information to referral sources/agencies.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with all Progress Valley ancillary programs/services.
  • Assist clients in applying for county benefits, such as General Assistance and/or MNSure, as needed and if applicable.
  • Have proficient knowledge of DAANES and enter data into the DAANES system in a timely manner.
  • Ensure self-development by attending seminars, conferences, etc., to keep apprised of new methods and procedures.
  • Serve as a backup to Central Access Coordinators in maintaining the waiting list and conducting screening and intake interviews with potential clients and referral sources to assess for appropriateness of placement and eligibility for admission, as needed.
  • Attain, maintain and promote a positive, safe, harmonious, productive, and challenging work environment.
  • Participate in clinical and program staff meetings, as required or directed.
  • Follow all program policies and procedures.
  • Collect and report client and program statistical and demographic data.
  • Maintain favorable driving record (favorable is left to the interpretation of the employer and any agent acting on behalf of the employer.)
  • Collect urinalysis samples and perform breath analysis tests to clients, as needed.
  • Complete substance use assessments as scheduled.
  • Performs other Duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

  • CD license in the state of MN (ADC-T or LADC).
  • 4-yr. degree in CD Counseling or related field, or equivalent training and experience preferred.
  • Must have completed or obtain 12 hours of training in co-occurring mental health problems and substance use disorder.
  • Must be able to pass DHS Rule 11 background check.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Ability to structure time well and develop priorities.
  • Ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Positive driving record (periodic review of driving record required).
  • Valid state driver’s license.
