About The Position

People Incorporated is seeking an Intake Specialist I to join our Central Access Contact Center team! This is a part-time position, that will act as the primary point-of-contact for crisis intakes on the Central Access team. Intake Specialist I's vital role includes screening and completing assessments for individuals, managing waitlists, and arranging intakes. An Intake Specialist I will keep pace with rapid changing information about the Hybrid/Crisis programs on a daily basis. Information such as open bed numbers, intake times and capacity. Hours: Part-Time, Sunday and Monday, flexible daytime business hours Location: 3000 Ames Crossing Rd, Ste 6000, Eagan MN 55121 | Remote Must have physical presence in the Twin Cities area Hiring Range: $24.29 - 25.87/ Hourly, based on qualifications, plus $1,000 hiring bonus to external candidates People Incorporated Mental Health Services is the largest nonprofit mental health provider in Minnesota. Requirements

  • Passing all background and credentialing requirements for facility and position; and
  • The ability to pass the screening required by Federal Human Services Office of Inspector General to assure the employee has not been excluded from working in the Health Care Programs which receive federal funding.
  • Must have a valid and current driver’s license and auto insurance, if applicable.
  • Must be free of chemical use problems for at least one year immediately preceding their hiring and must sign a statement attesting to that fact, if applicable.
  • Master’s degree in a behavioral science or related field; OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral science or related field and proof of a practicum or internship that requires direct interaction with adults or children served and is focused on behavioral sciences or related fields; OR
  • Has completed 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in behavioral science or a related field and: Has proof of a practicum or internship that requires direct interaction with adults or children served and is focused on behavioral sciences or related fields; OR
  • Has 2,000 hours of experience in the delivery of services to people with mental illness; OR
  • Has 2,000 hours of experience in the delivery of services to people with traumatic brain injury or developmental disabilities and completes training on mental illness, mental health de-escalation techniques, co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse, and psychotropic medications and side effects; OR
  • Is fluent in the non-English language of the cultural group to which 50% of the practitioner’s clients belong; OR
  • Has a high school diploma and 4,000 hours of experience in the delivery of services to people with: Mental illness; OR
  • Traumatic brain injury or developmental disabilities and completes training on mental illness, mental health de-escalation techniques, co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse, and psychotropic medications and side effects; OR
  • Has a high school diploma and 2,000 hours of experience in the delivery of services to people with: Mental illness, emotional disturbance, or substance use disorder, and receives clinical supervision from a mental health professional once a week until 4,000 hours of experience is met; OR
  • Traumatic brain injury or developmental disabilities and completes training on mental illness, mental health de-escalation techniques, co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse, and psychotropic medications and side effects and receives clinical supervision from a mental health professional once a week until 4,000 hours of supervised experience is met; OR
  • Is currently enrolled in a graduate level behavioral sciences program at an accredited college or university and is formally assigned to the program for clinical training.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in behavioral science/related field
  • Preference given to those with prior experience in mental health intake and screening experience.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to referrals assigned to you in a timely manner.
  • Assess clinical needs of referred clients, and complete screening and/or assessments as needed to evaluate severity of symptoms, determine appropriate placement, and make referrals to alternative programs as necessary
  • Create and maintain professional relationships with referents and other community partners.
  • Upload and maintain referral record in the organization’s Client Relationship Management (CRM) System.
  • Review provided clinical documentation and identify any items of concern that may prohibit program admission.
  • Complete admission screening with individual seeking services.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of current openings within the assigned programs through close communication with the program staff and leadership.
  • Document interactions with potential clients in the organization’s CRM while providing clear and concise communication with the individual, referent, and other applicable parties.
