The Admissions Registered Nurse (RN) for Nights is responsible for responding to incoming calls for referrals/admissions, assessing patients' psychiatric and medical status, and ensuring accurate documentation in the computer system. This role involves completing referral patient medical record information, apprising nursing and clinical staff of patient conditions, preparing referral materials for unit charts, intervening in crisis situations, providing leadership to mental health technicians, contributing to treatment plans as part of an interdisciplinary team, and administering prescribed medication and medical treatment. A $5000 sign-on bonus is offered for this position.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, currently licensed to practice by the Texas State Board of Nursing.
  • Current Texas State Registered Nurse License.
  • Current CPR or BLS certification.
  • Aggressive Behavior Management training within 90 days of hire date.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to incoming calls to the hospital to accommodate coordination for referrals/admissions.
  • Provide assessment of patients' psychiatric and medical status.
  • Responsible for making sure all inquiries, referrals, and admissions are documented accurately in the computer system and that notes regarding referrals and upcoming admissions are documented on proper forms.
  • Responsible to ensure all referral patient medical record information is completed and nursing and clinical staff are adequately apprised of the patient's condition/history.
  • Responsible to ensure referral material is copied/distributed and prepared in unit charts as required.
  • To assess, direct and intervene in crisis situations.
  • To provide leadership and direction to mental health technicians.
  • To contribute to treatment plan as a member of interdisciplinary team.
  • To administer medication and medical treatment as prescribed by Physician.
