About The Position

The Psychiatric Institute of Washington provides comprehensive behavioral healthcare for children, adolescents, adults, and senior adults suffering from mental health and addictive illnesses. PIW is a 130 bed, short-term, acute care hospital offering inpatient, partial and intensive outpatient hospitalization, as well as specialized treatment programs for chemical dependency. The Role: The RN - Intake, under the supervision of the Director - Admissions, provides telephonic and in-person risk assessment to assist the physician in identification of appropriate level of care for potential patients. The RN – intake serves as the initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral and intake process, facilitates the admission process and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients, and unit staff. The RN - Intake works with the Business Office regarding patient financial data and verification and prior authorization of insurance benefits as needed, as well as with the UR Department for the certification of patients admitted. Requirements

  • Licensure: Current license to practice professional nursing in Washington, DC.
  • New Grads encouraged to apply!
  • Excellent mentorship program and orientation available!
  • Current BLS certification.

Responsibilities
