Intake Nurse – United Energy Workers Job Overview:At United Energy Workers, we are committed to providing compassionate, personalized care to individuals in the comfort of their homes. We specialize in serving patients under the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA), offering support to former Department of Energy workers and their families. We’re currently seeking a skilled and empathetic Clinical Intake Nurse who can guide patients through the admission process and ensure they receive the benefits and care they are entitled to under EEOICPA.
Requirements
- Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Tennessee
- Experience in home health, hospice, or clinical intake, preferably with knowledge of EEOICPA or DOL-related programs
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Proficient with electronic health records (EHR) and basic office software
- Must pass a background check and drug screening
- Compassionate and patient-focused mindset, especially when working with aging or chronically ill populations
Responsibilities
- Conduct clinical intake assessments to determine home healthcare or hospice needs, with a special focus on EEOICPA-qualified patients
- Educate patients and families on services available under EEOICPA, including covered conditions, DOL benefits, and documentation requirements
- Coordinate with internal teams and Department of Labor case managers to streamline the enrollment process
- Clearly explain care plans, insurance coverage, agency policies, and patient rights
- Ensure timely initiation of services and referrals to appropriate clinicians and specialists
- Maintain accurate and compliant documentation per EEOICPA and CMS guidelines
- Address patient and family concerns with professionalism, empathy, and problem-solving skills
- Stay up to date on evolving EEOICPA regulations, benefits, and healthcare policies affecting eligible patients
