About The Position

The Lot Technician is responsible for managing the flow, organization, and condition of vehicles on the company lot. This role ensures vehicles are properly received, tracked, staged, exercised, and prepared for production or customer delivery. The Lot Technician plays a key role in maintaining accurate inventory records, keeping the lot organized and safe, and ensuring vehicles remain in good operating condition while on site. This position requires attention to detail, basic mechanical aptitude, and strong organizational skills.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience working around vehicles, yards, or logistics environments preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to drive manual transmission vehicles preferred.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge (starting vehicles, fluid checks, battery awareness).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow procedures and maintain accurate records.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move between vehicles for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb in and out of vehicles frequently.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs occasionally.
  • Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, or snow.

Responsibilities

  • Vehicle Receiving & Release Receive incoming vehicles and verify VINs, condition, and paperwork. Release completed vehicles to transporters or customers following proper procedures. Ensure all required documentation is completed accurately for vehicle intake and release.
  • Vehicle Tracking & Lot Organization Stock vehicles into internal systems upon arrival and update location/status accurately. Park vehicles in designated staging areas according to production, service, or shipping needs. Maintain clear traffic lanes, fire lanes, and safe access throughout the lot. Keep the lot organized, clean, and clearly marked at all times.
  • Vehicle Movement & Staging Pull vehicles for production or service according to daily schedules. Stage vehicles appropriately for upfitting, service, inspection, or delivery. Coordinate vehicle movement with Production, Service, and Shipping teams.
  • Vehicle Exercising & Basic Mechanical Care Regularly start and exercise vehicles to maintain battery charge and fuel system health. Identify and report low batteries, warning lights, fluid issues, or mechanical concerns. Perform basic checks such as fluid levels, tire condition, and battery status.
  • Cleaning & Pre-Delivery Preparation Wash and clean vehicles prior to customer delivery or shipment. Perform interior cleaning as needed to ensure professional presentation. Assist with detailing support when required.
  • Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDI) Complete pre-delivery inspections to confirm vehicle condition and readiness. Verify completion of required paperwork, accessories, and documentation. Report and assist with resolution of any issues identified during inspection.
  • Audits & Inventory Accuracy Perform regular lot audits to ensure system records match physical vehicle locations. Identify discrepancies and work with supervisors to correct them promptly. Support inventory counts and reporting as needed.
  • Off-Site Vehicle Movement Perform occasional off-site vehicle movements to vendors, dealerships, or satellite locations. Ensure vehicles are transported safely and securely in accordance with company policies.
  • Safety & Compliance Follow all safety procedures and traffic rules on the lot. Use PPE as required and report hazards or unsafe conditions. Support compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
