The position involves providing first-line communication with a variety of patients, referral sources, and clinicians to facilitate ordering and delivery of durable medical equipment (DME) products, supplies, and services. The role requires ensuring all patient information is processed timely and accurately to enhance patient satisfaction and optimize revenue.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of computer functions and basic Microsoft Office applications.
  • Detail oriented with excellent documentation skills.
  • Ability to follow through to the end.
  • Basic knowledge of the medical field.
  • Prior experience in home medical equipment is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line communication with patients, referral sources, and clinicians.
  • Facilitate ordering and delivery of durable medical equipment (DME) products, supplies, and services.
  • Process patient information timely and accurately.
  • Receive inquiries and orders by telephone, fax, and email.
  • Gather necessary documentation related to payer requirements and compliance programs.
  • Communicate with clinical staff regarding deficiencies in documentation.
  • Request needed documentation via various communication methods.
  • Resolve customer concerns, questions, and complaints regarding sale orders.
  • Anticipate patient needs for timely setup of equipment or delivery of supplies.
  • Create new patient accounts in the Equip computer system.
  • Obtain needed medical records to support physician orders.
  • Verify insurance and log prior authorizations and prescriptions.
  • Notate all intake information in the Equip patient account.
  • Notify clinical staff when intake is complete.
  • Maintain knowledge of billing, documentation, and reimbursement guidelines.
  • Set up patient appointments and make follow-up calls as needed.
  • Complete tasks with minimum supervision, exercising independent judgment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
