Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited university in a human service area or RN
  • Minimum two-years of Clinical experience in psychiatric setting preferred
  • Current license from the State of Florida preferred: such as LCSW, LMFT, LMHC; or Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Above average communication skills, high level of initiative, motivation, independent judgement and organizational skills.
  • Ability to relate to those emotionally disturbed and in crisis.

Responsibilities

  • Knows and understands the Intake Call System Procedures. Responds to telephone inquiry calls.
  • Obtains clinical information on potential patients. Determines clinical and financial eligibility. Completes Intake Assessment with patient and/or family.
  • Initiates verification of insurance coverage to determine viability of insurance for individuals seeking admission and being admitted.
  • Greets new admission and family, making them feel comfortable and welcome. Attempts to answer questions and alleviate concerns.
  • Sets up tours when appropriate and informs facility staff of tours and assessments.
  • Orients resident and family/guardian to the facility covering policies such as phone, mail, visiting, personal belongings, key contacts at the facility and participation in the treatment process.
  • Able to determine a provisional diagnosis for mental health and/or chemical dependence treatment.
  • Successful precertification of mental health and/or chemical dependence treatment with insurance companies.
  • Assists in the location of an available, suitable treatment resource when the patient is not appropriate for the clinical program at La Amistad.
  • Exhibits effective oral and written communication related to Patient Intake Process.
