About The Position

The position is part-time at the Aurora St. Lukes Medical Center - Intake Center, requiring 24 hours of work per week, specifically every weekend from 1900 to 0730. The role involves conducting initial intake assessments for Behavioral Health patients, collaborating with various departments, and ensuring patient safety through crisis intervention and proper procedures. The responsibilities include triaging service requests, scheduling clinical assessments, verifying insurance, and maintaining accurate documentation in electronic medical records. The position also requires collaboration with community agencies and providing consultation services to acute care units.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field.
  • Typically requires 2 years of experience in providing therapy and/or assessments in behavioral health.
  • Previous experience in clinical assessment of psychiatric and chemical dependency disorders.
  • Knowledge of the State of Wisconsin Mental Health and Emergency Detention Codes.
  • Excellent oral, written communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts initial intake assessments for Behavioral Health patient level of care placement.
  • Collaborates with psychiatry to recommend appropriate level of care.
  • Assists with crisis intervention and emergency procedures.
  • Maintains patient safety by collaborating with hospital staff.
  • Provides communication with local police and rescue services.
  • Secures Releases of Information and facilitates collaboration with community providers.
  • Triages requests for services via phone, in person, or telepsychiatry.
  • Schedules and refers patients for clinical assessments.
  • Verifies patient's insurance and completes pre-authorization requirements.
  • Documents assessments, crisis treatment plans, and discharge recommendations.
  • Acts as a liaison to referral sources and informs them of recommended services.
  • Assists in maintaining intake statistics and community resource information.
  • Provides clinical therapeutic services to diverse populations.
  • Documents requests for psychiatric consultation services.
