About The Position

The Psychiatric Intake Coordinator is accountable for assisting with intake assessments and referral activities for the Outpatient program at the facility. This position involves extensive patient contact and interfaces closely with the Intake RN, Utilization Review staff, PIW business office staff and clinical staff. This position is also responsible for basic mental health tech functions, inquiry calls, insurance verification, safety checks and scheduling of evaluations and admissions. Will conduct medication observations, and utilize verbal deescalation techniques. The Psychiatric Institute of Washington provides comprehensive behavioral healthcare for children, adolescents, adults, and senior adults suffering from mental health and addictive illnesses. PIW is a 130 bed, short-term, acute care hospital offering inpatient, partial and intensive outpatient hospitalization, as well as specialized treatment programs for chemical dependency. PIW has an excellent reputation as an innovative hospital with caring, dedicated staff, experienced in the delivery of behavioral healthcare. Situated in the safe, historical Tenleytown neighborhood, PIW is one mile from the Tenleytown Metro stop and within walking distance to local cafes and restaurants.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a health care setting dealing directly with patients.
  • Prior behavioral health, corrections or emergency room experience highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of customer service and patient care principles.
  • CPR and CPI training must be completed before providing direct care services.
