About The Position

Under the supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) or Acute Care Director of Nursing (DON), the Intake/Clinical Assessment Coordinator manages referral development, monitoring, and coordination of the assessment process. This position ensures clinical and financial determinations are made prior to patient admission. The role guides community members, patients, and families in navigating the hospital’s continuum of care and significantly impacts revenue cycle management through accurate patient assessment and documentation.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• Minimum 2 years healthcare experience, including mental health patient care
• Current Nevada Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Current Basic Life Support (CPR) certification

Responsibilities

• Serve as the first level reviewer for pre-admission criteria and conduct clinically based retrospective reviews of inpatient medical records
• Evaluate utilization and documentation of acute care services to ensure accuracy in reflecting patient severity of illness and risk of mortality
• Facilitate appropriate provider documentation to support quality care outcomes and compliant reimbursement
• Respond to internal and external payer/regulatory requests related to patient care documentation
• Maintain departmental procedures including inquiry calls, referral phone logs, and admission processes
• Ensure treatment levels and clinical services align with patient needs
