Requirements

  • Master's Degree and Licensed by State of Texas in Social Work, Counseling or Marriage and Family Therapy.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in the mental health field.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience providing therapeutic services, case management.
  • Prior intake, assessment, admission and crisis intervention experience with a psychiatric mental health population, preferably in an inpatient setting.
  • Prefer knowledge of hospital admission functions, psychological assessment and risk assessment, psychiatric diagnoses symptomatology, basic chemical dependency, age specific growth and development and crisis and behavior management.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for referral sources and potential patients to schedule assessments and/or admissions.
  • Respond to incoming calls to the hospital to accommodate coordination for referrals/admissions.
  • Provide assessment of patients, psychiatric and medical status.
  • Document all inquiries, referrals, and admissions accurately in the computer system.
  • Ensure all referral patient medical record information is completed and nursing and clinical staff are adequately apprised of the patients condition/history.
  • Copy/distribute and prepare referral material in unit charts as required.
  • Assess, direct and intervene in crisis situations.
  • Provide leadership and direction to mental health technicians.
  • Contribute to treatment plan as a member of interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide and direct milieu management.
  • Provide health education to patients and families.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patients medical records.
  • Communicate with sensitivity to growth, development, and cultural issues.
  • Attend mandatory training and in-services.
