About The Position

Job Summary: The Intake/Appeals Coordinator is responsible for any request of applicant appeal. This appeal must be a written request (Appeal Form) from the applicant, requesting formal hearing, per LIHEAP program’s standards. This position verifies that the client meets all program requirements and certifies the application for appropriate level(s) of assistance. Answer phones as needed, make and file applicant folders, assist in clerical duties in the daily operation of the program and perform general duties as required. Employee may be scheduled for alternative hours on Thursday during fuel season. Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities: Interview new clients by appointment. Explain and complete the LIHEAP Appeals process with/for LIHEAP applicants per DHCD standard(s). Reviewing completed LIHEAP applications, determining if any/all documents are present. Checking and making sure guidance is followed and/or any errors have occurred. Making sure all documentation has been date stamped, reviewing comment section (eAssist) in applicant file. Matching documentation that is mailed, dropped-off or handed-off to process. Process matched applications, obtaining confidential information (i.e. income, social security numbers, citizenship, etc.), establish income eligibility calculations into eAssist and verify all documents needed. Process emergency applications, appeals and filing Appeals Log tracking status of all program appeals. Other duties as assigned based on the needs of the LIHEAP Program.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Must be people orientated, have good interpersonal and telephone skills, manners, written and verbal communication skills and be bi-lingual (English and Spanish) preferred.
  • Must have experience in general office procedures, experience in social services, ability to learn and perform all program operations.
  • Must have a suitable CORI & SORI completed within the first thirty (30) days of employment.
  • Ability to work effectively with and meet the needs of people from a diverse range of backgrounds, cultures, and identities, including underserved communities and people from the different racial groups, socioeconomic statuses, nationalities, and languages that make up GLCAC’s clientele to support the agency’s mission of building a more diverse, equitable and inclusive organization for employees and clients alike.
