About The Position

In this role, you'll serve as the resource coordination hub for our Eaton Fire Housing Assistance Team, collaborating with Case Managers to ensure families receive comprehensive, tailored support. Responsibilities include conducting client intakes, assessing needs, and connecting families to services such as housing support, FEMA, insurance, counseling, and employment resources. You'll maintain a database of disaster recovery resources, facilitate warm hand-offs to partner agencies, and track referrals to prevent duplication of benefits. This role requires high organization, attention to detail, strong communication skills and above all, a compassionate commitment to serving families with care dignity. Requirements

  • Experience in social services, case management, disaster relief, or community-based programs
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations (e.g., low-income families, elderly, individuals with disabilities, or those impacted by disasters)
  • Strong verbal and written communication; ability to build rapport with clients under stress
  • Skilled at gathering demographic and needs information, prioritizing urgent cases, and identifying appropriate services
  • Accurate record-keeping, data entry, and reporting for case management systems
  • Quick thinking under pressure, ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously
  • Must be a self-starter, flexible, and able to thrive in fast-paced and challenging environments
  • Adept in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Teams and Outlook
  • Strong advocacy skills
  • Ability to work in a team and independently
  • Ability to meet identified administrative deadlines and program deliverables

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with government assistance programs (FEMA, local housing resources, food assistance, mental health services) is a plus
  • Bilingual Spanish is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial client intakes, gathering demographic, household, and disaster-impact information to determine immediate needs and service priorities
  • Triage cases based on urgency, risk level, and housing stability, ensuring high-priority households are connected to support quickly
  • Research, identify, and maintain a comprehensive, current database of disaster recovery resources, including housing programs, financial assistance, legal aid, mental health services, employment supports, and basic needs providers
  • Verify eligibility criteria, documentation requirements, geographic service areas, and application procedures for partner programs to ensure accurate referrals
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with community partners, relief agencies, government programs, and nonprofit providers
  • Coordinate and execute warm referrals to appropriate agencies, ensuring clients understand next steps and required documentation
  • Track referrals in case management systems, document outcomes, barriers, and follow-up steps
  • Monitor referrals and follow up with providers and clients to confirm service and resolve issues
  • Identify service gaps, emerging needs, and resource shortages
  • Collaborate with Disaster Case Managers to align referrals with individualized recovery plans and avoid duplication of benefits
  • Provide technical guidance to staff on available resources, eligibility, and new programs
  • Develop resource guides, quick-reference tools, and training materials
  • Support outreach by sharing information at community events, sites, and partner meetings
  • Take on case management responsibilities, providing direct support to clients if/when needed
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with program, funder, and data requirement
