About The Position

Univista Insurance is looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Underwriter to join our underwriting team. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals looking to develop their underwriting skills while supporting the team in evaluating risks and assisting with the underwriting process.

Requirements

• Basic understanding of underwriting principles and the insurance industry.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Bilingual: Fluent in both English and Spanish (spoken and written) to communicate effectively with team members and clients.
• A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and grow in the underwriting field.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior underwriters in assessing and evaluating insurance applications and risks.
• Review and analyze policy applications, client data, and claims histories.
• Prepare quotes, endorsements, and binders for insurance policies.
• Assist in gathering and verifying information to ensure policies are written in accordance with company guidelines.
• Communicate with brokers, agents, and clients to gather additional information or clarify details.
• Ensure timely processing of applications and renewals, meeting department deadlines.
• Support in maintaining accurate records and documentation for underwriting files.
• Assist with identifying and addressing potential risks and recommending adjustments to policy terms.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and underwriting standards.
