Insurance Specialist – Billing – Full Time Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital is a Critical Access Hospital, stand-alone, not-for-profit hospital located in Ste. What to expect as an Insurance Specialist: Edits all necessary information for proper billing to ensure accuracy and timely submission to insurance carriers using EHR and Clearing House. Apply customer service skills to resolve patient inquires and concerns pertaining to their hospital accounts. Reviews all remittance advices and payments for proper and correct reimbursement, identifies any discrepancies and attempts to resolve. Responds timely and accurately to all incoming correspondence and inquires from payors, patients, and other appropriate parties. Appeals rejected claims and resubmits any information required by insurance companies in order to process the claim. Writes appropriate notes in system for every account for which action has been taken. Organizes and prioritizes work based on time needed to complete with minimum supervision. Exhibits good judgment as well as thorough knowledge of ethical and legal billing procedures. Stays informed of changes in billing procedures that affect processes and reimbursement effectiveness. Completes any project assigned by the Billing Supervisor to the best of his/her abilities. Meets monthly A/R goals. Perform monthly review of aged receivables and contact payors/patients to take appropriate action to assure such accounts are processed in a timely manner. Requirements Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent. Interpersonal communication skills to participate as a team member in a caring, courteous and professional manner. Basic office skills such as keyboarding and filing. 1-2 year previous experience in a medical setting, preferably in filing and medical insurance claims.
