The Insurance Specialist meets the insurance needs of our members by educating, quoting, and servicing policies within insurance state law guidelines. The Insurance Specialist operates in a customer service role for GTE Financial, working in a call center environment. The Insurance Specialist (IS) position is an integral link in the business relationship that is created by our insurance department between our members and the insurance companies and/or vendors we represent. For many members, this is the primary point of contact for established members. What does GTE look for in an Insurance Specialist Ancillary? Service: Provide superior service to our members and internal customers by promptly responding to their inquiries and recommending the appropriate insurance products and services to address their individual needs. Communicates with members,, insurance companies, and other financial institutions. Responsible for extensive and complex communication with dealers, and financial institutions, and problem resolution. Maintain individual member files and process routine correspondence between the member, or the company, including preparing policy documents. Handles members inquiries regarding education, cancellations, reinstatements, and billing of third-party vendor insurance products. Process and review claims on Credit Life/Disability, Extended Warranty, CPI, and GAP. Recalculates and corrects loan information when research requires problem resolution or insurance refunds to the member's accounts. Recalculates and corrects loan information when research requires default pricing. Operations: Understands and helps to maintain vendor and company manuals and revisions. Understands and helps to maintain the Procedure Manual, Workflow Manual, and Disaster Recovery Manual. Participates and contributes to a positive teamwork environment that encourages team commitment to corporate, division, and departmental goals. Provides training to Credit Union staff as needed regarding products and referrals. Perform additional functions at the direction of department management. Ensures the confidentiality of all information and transactions regarding GTE Insurance, the Credit Union, its members, and its employees are held to the highest level of business ethics. Must demonstrate functional knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act in addition to other Federal laws, including but not limited to: the U.S. Patriot Act, Office of Foreign Assets & Control, Anti-Money Laundering, Right to Financial Privacy Act, and the Bank Bribery Act.
