About The Position

The Insurance Specialist is responsible for verifying allergy patient benefits, collecting estimates from patients, speaking to patients with questions, communication with the allergy nurses and reconciling the Biotek invoice.

Requirements

High school graduate.
Minimum of one year work experience in medical billing office or related education.
A team player who works well under pressure and who can communicate clearly in person and/or on the phone.
Knowledge of basic insurance guidelines and the understanding of the appeals process.
Ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively.
Experience with a practice management system, preferably Allscripts, which includes electronic remittance posting and knowledge of electronic medical records.

Nice To Haves

Medical terminology, CPT and ICD-10 coding experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Verifies allergy benefits for all allergy testing patients on the Allscripts schedule
Monitors teams messages from the allergy nurse
Reaches out to patients to review estimates and collect payment
Handles inquiries from patients regarding allergy balances
Works with Biotek to reconcile their monthly invoice
Posts paper EOB’s for ENT
Works the self-pay credit balance report
Maintains an open line of communication with the DRCM and co-workers.
Attend department and company staff meetings.
All other duties as assigned.
