About The Position

Travis Credit Union’s (TCU) Insurance Services Specialists are responsible for the operational support of insurance and debt protection products. TCU's members are provided with options to protect their financial objectives. TCU Insurance Services Specialists are committed to ensuring members are well-informed and their needs are met when responding to unexpected life events.

Requirements

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Efficiently organize work priorities and accurately complete multiple tasks within strict timeframes with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to identify, communicate and advocate financial solutions with all levels of internal/external members.
  • Effective, professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient mathematical and analytical skills including reworking loan accounts, adjusting payment history and balancing general ledger reports.
  • Ability to navigate and process within multiple interdependent systems and tools.
  • Proficient in MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Reports directly to assigned Consumer Lending department management.
  • HS Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years of previous related work experience.
  • Understands the requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act and ensures compliance through monitoring and reporting of member activity as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures quality member service by providing guidance and assistance on insurance and debt protection products when communicating with members and internal/external business partners.
  • Interprets conditions and verifies that all insurance requirements have been met.
  • Provides assistance and direction for internal business partners
  • Provides prompt assistance with the processing of claims for members and follows up with updated status.
  • Manages insurance warranty and service cancellation checks, and adjusts receivables manually.
  • Accountable for vendor and monthly reporting.
  • Maintains industry knowledge about products and services offered, whether in-house or provided by vendors, such as Guaranteed Asset Protection (GAP), Member Valued Protection (MVP), and Mechanical Breakdown Insurance (MBI).
  • Provides internal partners with training for product and service knowledge advancement.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvements and changes in processes and policies to increase productivity and members’ experience.
  • Processes all insurance department correspondence. Maintains accurate weekly/monthly departmental reports ensuring all deadlines are met, including random risk management audits.
  • Resolves any discrepancies between individual daily work and department general ledgers.
  • Acts as a back-up for the Collateral Protection Specialist or other areas as needed.
