About The Position

The Benefits/Insurance Navigator is responsible for coordinating all aspects of application for benefits, specifically insurance and general assistance, in the RS EDEN Recovery Services programs. Flexibility, effective time management practices, and sound organizational skills are necessary. Must have strong customer services skills, empathy, ability to work through crisis situations in a professional, therapeutic and positive manner. This position includes light lifting and sitting for long periods of time.  This position is classified as a category 3 driving position. RS EDEN requires all new hire candidates for this position to successfully undergo and pass a criminal history background check, and driver record screen (DMV check). Requirements

  • 2-yr. degree in social services or related field, or equivalent training and experience preferred
  • Experience with insurance, general assistance, SNAP, and other county and state benefits
  • Experience with the behavioral health fund
  • Current Mantoux test. (Annual requirement thereafter)
  • Must be able to pass applicable favorable criminal history/background check
  • One year off correctional supervision

Responsibilities

  • Understand insurance navigation, benefit application, county systems, and the behavioral health fund
  • Maintain professionalism with county relationships and current participants
  • Utilize empathy to support clients throughout the benefit application process
  • Complete and maintain training needed to become a CAC insurance navigator through the county
  • Maintain up to date information related to eligibility for insurance and various county and state benefits
  • Understand all relevant program policies and procedures and how they interact with participant insurance and other benefits
  • Assess new client immediate needs upon admission with regards to benefits and communicate this to relevant staff
  • Ability to accurate assist participants in filling out all submission forms needed to obtain benefits
  • Maintain current information regarding applications for
  • Participate in staff meetings and training as required or directed
  • Manage the processing and procurement of funding for all admissions and the collection of documents for incorporation into client files
  • Understand and follow vulnerable adult, incident/accident policy and reporting procedures
  • Safeguard personally identifiable health information (PHI) in accordance with duties and current agency HIPAA an 42CFR notification statement and standards
  • Support the Admissions Supervisor in meeting department goals for census and service delivery
  • Performs other duties as required
