This role partners closely with the Office of Insurance & Loss Control to support the full insurance lifecycle, including exposure data management, insurance renewals, claims support, and property insurance management. A core component of this role is data integrity, analysis, and reporting, ensuring accurate and timely risk exposure information across multiple lines of insurance. The Analyst reports to the Director, Insurance & Loss Control , and supports initiatives overseen by the Vice President, Insurance & Loss Control.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in risk management and/or insurance
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and data management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Insurance Renewal Process Support Collaborates with the insurance team to compile, organize, and complete all data, documentation, and applications required for annual insurance renewals
  • Prepares comprehensive, market-ready insurance submissions for property, casualty, and liability insurance programs
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including faculty, staff, insurance brokers, carriers, consultants, and claims professionals
  • Coordinates with underwriters to respond to inquiries related to risk exposures with the objective of securing favorable coverage terms and pricing
  • Participates in the evaluation of insurance renewal options, including financial, strategic, and operational analyses
  • Supports review of quotes, binders, policies, and endorsements to ensure accuracy and alignment with negotiated terms
  • Coordinates the collection and validation of exposure data required for annual insurance audits, including workers compensation and other applicable programs
  • Organizes, maintains, and archives insurance-related documentation in accordance with established standards
  • Performs additional duties as assigned
  • Claims Management Process Support Assists the insurance team and key stakeholders in gathering documentation and information necessary to substantiate and support claims for all lines of coverage, excluding medical professional liability and general liability claims
  • Ensures timely and accurate submission of claim-related materials to carriers, brokers, and consultants
  • Property Insurance Management Supports the Director in maintaining and analyzing the system-wide property schedule used for insurance placement and premium allocation
  • Manages property exposure data covering more than 800 properties with approximately $14 billion in total insured value
  • Reviews property data and performs trend and scenario analyses related to property values, construction characteristics, and loss exposures
  • Updates property schedules to reflect new locations, renovations, inflationary trends, construction types, square footage, age, and other relevant attributes
  • Conducts periodic reviews with departments and stakeholders to validate changes in property exposures
  • Participates in insurer-sponsored training and educational opportunities to enhance knowledge of property insurance and risk engineering principles
  • Responds and supports coordination efforts in the event of a property loss
  • Collaborates with insurers, Facilities Management, and consultants on loss control initiatives, including implementation of risk engineering recommendations
  • Assists in managing significant property losses and coordinates with insurers for losses exceeding $100,000
  • Professional Development Works with management to develop and execute an individualized professional development plan
  • Participates in relevant educational programs, training sessions, and in-services to maintain and expand technical expertise
