Requirements

  • Compassionate and caring bedside manners.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to balance competing priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Previous experience in insurance verification, patient intake, or a similar role in a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance policies, and healthcare regulations.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) and insurance verification software.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Verify patients' insurance information, including policy numbers and coverage details, collected during the intake process.
  • Ensure accurate entry of patient insurance details into the Practice Management System (PMS).
  • Address any discrepancies in insurance information with patients and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Communicate with patients regarding necessary documentation and answer questions related to insurance coverage and benefits.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to obtain necessary authorizations and referrals as required by insurance companies.
  • Monitor and manage insurance authorizations and re-authorization processes to avoid delays in patient care.
  • Collaborate with LabCorp to ensure patient insurance is accurate, and all provider correspondence is sent in a timely manner.
  • Maintain detailed records of all interactions with patients and claims status in the billing system
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance policies, regulations, and changes in the industry.
  • Support the billing department with the timely submission of claims and follow-up on pending referrals or missing referring providers.
