About The Position

Bressler, Amery & Ross, a dynamic and rapidly growing law firm with a national practice, seeks an Insurance Defense Trial Team Paralegal based in its’ Ft. Lauderdale office. The Paralegal will support Attorneys in Insurance Law and Litigation with a majority of the focus upon all areas of first-party coverage, including windstorm, fire, theft, water damage, sinkhole, and “collapse claims.”

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ paralegal work experience at a law firm is required.
  • Experience with insurance defense/first party property claims.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and document management system(s).
  • Self-starter who is comfortable managing multiple tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Trial support experience preferable.

Responsibilities

  • Gathering and analyzing of documents.
  • Gathering, organizing, and maintaining legal documents, such as pleadings, and motions.
  • Calendar hearings and deadlines. Maintaining pleadings and discovery responses.
  • Preparing documents for production.
  • Preparing Orders of Production and Subpoenas to third-parties. Follow up with third-parties’ responses to our demand for production.
  • Interaction with Firm personnel, outside counsel, external vendors, expert witnesses and clients.
  • Coordinate depositions for all expert witnesses and gathering their complete expert file. Liaison between expert witnesses and trial counsel regarding upcoming trials.
  • Preparing simple motions (i.e. Motion to Compel, Motion for Extensions, Motion to Strike Expert Witnesses, Motions for Rule to Show Cause, etc.).
  • Preparing Expert Discovery Requests.
  • Coordinate hearings for all trial motions (i.e. Daubert Motions, Motions in Limine, etc.).
  • Organizing case files and documents.
  • Preparing standard form responses.
  • Provide trial preparation and on-site trial support as required.
  • Creating and maintaining spreadsheets and databases.
  • Supporting other projects as needed.
