About The Position
Our staff counsel office is seeking an experienced Attorney to join our growing team in our Rocky Hill, Connecticut office. This position can be done partially remote. Position Overview: This position requires the handling of moderate to high exposure liability cases in civil litigation from the inception of the lawsuit until conclusion through dismissal, settlement or trial within Connecticut. The successful candidate will be required to work with adjusters and clients to resolve claims as expeditiously and efficiently as possible. This is a full time/exempt
Requirements
- Experience in automobile and general liability matters, with jury trial experience preferred but not required.
- The ideal candidate will be admitted to the Connecticut and Massachusetts bar.
- Must have a valid driver's license, an acceptable MVR and an ability to maintain confidentiality
- Able to work in a team environment with other attorneys, adjusters, claims professionals and support staff
- Computer literacy, including MS Word, Lexis/Westlaw, and daily management of e-mail and calendar
Nice To Haves
- Admission to the federal bar is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Meets with clients and claims professionals to resolve cases in the most cost effective manner
- Conducts pre-trials, mediations, arbitrations or any other legal activity required
- May independently conduct trials
- Advises claim professionals on the evaluations of legal files
- Provides legal advice to clients and other claim professionals as needed
- Negotiates settlements as directed
- Attends round tables
