Insurance Defense Attorney -- Bodily Injury
About The Position
As an insurance defense attorney within our bodily injury (BI) unit, you'll be a part of our motor vehicle insurance defense litigation team, providing legal representation to Progressive insureds and/or to the Progressive Insurance Companies before courts and arbitration panels in all aspects of litigation. Handling cases from beginning to end, you'll also prepare legal pleadings, motions, statements, trial briefs and be involved in negotiating settlements. Additionally, you'll work closely with clients and claims partners to prepare timely reports on litigation, ensuring all appropriate defenses are leveraged to reach positive outcomes. Other tasks will include analyzing written discovery, depositions, medical records and assessing the value of claims to determine risk exposure.
Requirements
- Juris doctor degree or Master of Laws (LLM) and a minimum of five years general/auto civil litigation experience
- Admitted to practice law in Texas
- This position requires a valid driver's license and auto insurance
- This position requires compliance with Progressive's driving standards and/or policies
Nice To Haves
- Seven or more years experience in auto defense litigation or plaintiff's personal injury
- Extensive litigation experience with significant jury trial experience and proficiency
- Ability to litigate and try complex and high exposure cases
- Proficiency at conducting high level/expert discovery
- Proven leadership skills and qualities
- Strong aptitude to review and assess complex medical records, depositions and other documents
