Requirements

JD degree from an ABA approved law school and licensed in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
5-8 years of experience as a coverage attorney; experience preferred in professional liability issues including lawyers and medical professional liability, including defense of such underlying matters.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
PC literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and Westlaw.
Strong time management, organizational and analytical skills.
Ability to work effectively in both an individual and team work environment.
Strong legal research and analysis skills.
Strong business acumen and ability to analyze legal issues from the business perspective.
Ability to handle many, varied legal issues at the same time in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to effectively prioritize assignments in a high-urgency setting.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive, responsive, and timely legal advice and training to Claims, Underwriting, and Market Management on all insurance lines, with limited supervision.
Work with cross-functional teams to facilitate proactive and compliant performance of all company objectives.
Advise on claims handling procedures to prevent insurance bad faith claims related to coverage provided to and/or settlement of claims against MedPro Group insureds.
Execute on coverage issues, preparing appropriate reservations, denials, or other letters for Claims as needed.
Communicate effectively with important clients, business partners, and other attorneys on significant developments and unique issues that raise the potential for litigation on individual cases and across broader legal issues.
Consult with the business on the legal issues and implications of potential business decisions and initiatives, providing legal advice strategies and solutions for general business and legal issues.
Review policies and provide experienced coverage analysis.
Advise Underwriting on potential rescission/reformation actions and prepare appropriate correspondence.
Monitor and assist outside counsel in coverage-related litigation.
Assist Claims and Underwriting in responding to subpoenas and other legal requests.
