Gray Construction is seeking a Risk Management Specialist I, to Be based in the Lexington, KY office. Knowledge of property and casualty insurance as it relates to the construction industry is required. Why Gray? This position serves as primary contact for project teams to evaluate and obtain, as needed, builder’s risk insurance for projects. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or minimum two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • The selected candidate must have excellent organizational and time management skills and have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of property and casualty insurance as it relates to the construction industry, or a related field, is required.
  • Must have basic business mathematical skills and ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as contracts and insurance policies.
  • Must have ability to solve complex problems and deal with a variety of variables.

Responsibilities

  • Review customer contracts to understand project specific requirements and risks.
  • Coordinate with insurance broker(s) to quote, evaluate coverages, bind coverage, and amend policies to remain in compliance with contractual requirements and/or minimize risk of loss to Gray.
  • Maintain detailed records and files, including policy documents.
  • Validate, process, and approve invoices.
  • Procure, as needed, surety bonds. Maintain detailed bond records and files, manage expiration dates, and validate, process, and approve bond invoices.
  • Provide insurance or bonding premium estimates to Gray’s Estimating, Pre-Construction or Project Management teams.
  • Maintain knowledge of construction trends in the insurance industry.
  • As needed, provide support to other Risk Management team members. This includes, but is not limited to, requesting certificates of insurance, drafting letters, processing invoices, assisting with annual renewals and reviewing contracts for compliance with Gray’s insurance program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
