About the position
The Insurance Billing Specialist is responsible for maximizing reimbursement for Bozeman Health and its related entities by ensuring timely and accurate submission of claims to third-party payers. This role involves monitoring and resolving issues related to claims, including denials and edits, and collaborating with other departments to enhance the Revenue Cycle's efficiency. The specialist prioritizes accounts to reduce receivable days and escalates significant issues to supervisors for resolution.
Responsibilities
- Obtain maximum and appropriate reimbursement for hospital and professional claims from third-party payers.
- Support the timely development and accurate submission of claims to third-party payers.
- Monitor, resolve, or escalate payer denials, returned claims, and claim edits.
- Collaborate with other Revenue Cycle functions to resolve issues preventing timely claim submission.
- Prioritize and complete accounts routed to billing work queues to reduce accounts receivable days.
- Escalate high-dollar accounts or systemic issues to the Billing Supervisor for resolution.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- One (1) year of general or medical office experience
Nice-to-haves
- Epic experience
- Completion of program in medical billing degree or certification program
- Two (2) years of healthcare hospital and/or professional billing experience
