About The Position

Highlights: Summary: The Insurance Biller shall be responsible for processing all insurance claims electronically and paper. This individual will review each chart for validity of insurance information and determine whether claims are electronically or paper billed. The Biller is responsible for refiling or follow-up of claims as necessary, and must be knowledgeable of the UB 04 and HCFA 1500 billing procedures and forms. The Biller is required to be in constant communication with software and clearinghouse vendors to ensure clean claim transmittals. Additionally, this individual shall also require the Biller to be knowledgeable of all coding principles and procedures. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Prior experience filing electronic and paper insurance claims in a medical facility required.
  • Prior experience filing claims with clearinghouse required.
  • Knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding principals and procedures.
  • Medical terminology and proficiency in spelling and grammar required.
  • Typing, computer and database experience required.
  • Knowledge of proper body mechanics for occupational safety.
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively.
  • Position requires sitting for 90% of the workday and mobility 10% of the workday.
  • There is occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
  • There is frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action.
  • Requires occasional lifting or carrying up to 20pounds, pushing/pulling up to50 pounds.
  • There is a continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person.
  • Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range.
  • Inside protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
  • Minimal noise levels.
  • Much exposure to computer work.
  • Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock.
  • Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks.
  • Some exposure to hazardous chemicals.
  • Occasional exposure to radiation.
