About The Position

Flexible part time 20hr position- Specialty services is Monday - Friday 8am-430pm.. . Scheduling, Registration and Insurance Authorization for our Specialty Services. Summary The Insurance Authorization Assistant works under the direction of the Director and/or Office Manager. They oversee all patient registrations and documentation to ensure regulatory compliance. Updates the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and STAR billing systems; performs administrative review of each account, reads referrals, and schedules patients. Is a resource to all staff members in regards to the initial scheduling, insurance authorization and processing of patients. Requirements

  • High school or equivalent (GED).
  • At least one year experience working in the medical field or equivalent combination of continuing education and experience is preferred.
  • Ability to effectively and positively interact with a multi disciplinary team of staff, patients, and others.

Responsibilities

  • Consistently displays the necessary skills and abilities required for the position.
  • Performs insurance authorizations.
  • Registers patients in hospital systems.
  • Processes and/or routes all incoming calls and responds to departmental inquiries.
  • Schedules patients for initial evaluations.
  • Reconciles work lists and reports.
  • Creates and maintains medical records and charts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
