About The Position

BCBST is hiring an Insurance Sales Advisor (Consumer Center)! We’re looking for a customer‑focused advisor who can resolve member needs on the first contact, confidently guide consumers through plan decisions, and build trust in the community—while also driving enrollment and sales across a portfolio of health and supplemental products. In this role you’ll deliver first‑contact resolution for member service inquiries—explaining benefits, researching and clarifying claims, supporting plan selection, helping members use tools and resources, and assisting with premium payments and community resources. You’ll proactively educate consumers on Marketplace options by leading informational sessions and supporting one‑on‑one enrollment through Healthcare.gov. You’ll also sell health, dental, and vision plans. Success in this role means members leave with clear answers and the right next steps, issues are resolved efficiently, enrollments are completed accurately, and product recommendations translate into meaningful coverage decisions. You’ll be measured by strong first‑contact resolution, increased Marketplace education and enrollment support, consistent sales performance across product lines, and visible community engagement that drives sustained center traffic. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years - Experience in a Support function or Customer Service required
  • Medicare Certification (AHIP) to sell Senior Markets Products required, or must obtain within 90 days from hire, and maintain annually.
  • Certification to sell Qualified Health Plans required, or must obtain within 90 days from hire, and maintain annually.
  • Ability to work flexible hours in order to meet the needs of the business
  • Proven decision making and problem solving skills
  • Must be willing to work weekends and / or take 24-hour call.
  • Active TN Life and Health license is required at hire, or must obtain within 90 days from hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first contact resolution for member service inquiries at consumer centers including services such as benefit explanation, claims research and explanation, assisting members with plan selection, member tools and resources, premium payments and community resources.
  • Proactively educate consumers on Marketplace products including conducting informational meetings and supporting one on one enrollment via healthcare.gov as needed.
  • Sell health, life, dental, vision, accident and hospital indemnity insurance plans.
  • Develop, implement and execute targeted engagement campaigns with community leaders, business owners, retirement communities, nursing homes and minority groups to drive center traffic and community engagement.
  • Mobile Center position will require 100% travel across the state.
  • The mobile Insurance Advisor position will be 100% market based.
