Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two years of insurance billing and follow-up experience in the medical field or additional related education may be substituted for the two years of insurance experience.

Responsibilities

• Review and appeal claim denials from third-party carriers as justified.
• Comply with HCFA’s billing guidelines.
• Follow-up on unpaid third-party carrier claims.
• Proper documentation; operative notes, progress notes, consent forms, referral forms, and primary EOB’s.
• Transfer unpaid insurance balances to the guarantor.
• Answer patient phone calls and assist patients with resolving unpaid third-party claims.
• Identify problem payers and report them to the CBO manager.
• Balance all postings.
