As an Insulator Improver, you will: Support Journeyman in the installation and/or removal of insulation on ships in various stages of repair and modernization Measure, cut, and/or fabricate materials for insulation application to: Bulkheads Overheads Piping Ducts Machinery Equipment Apply insulation to reduce: Loss or absorption of heat Moisture condensation Sound Perform related tasks as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 years’ experience in lagging/insulation
  • Must have knowledge of many different types of insulation and its appropriate use
  • Knowledge of asbestos abatement helpful
  • Basic math and measuring skills; fabrication and installation of removable covers; reading specifications and blueprint;
  • Must comply with Company safety rules and OSHA standards.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DBID's.
  • Must be able to use hand tools, power tools and shop machinery safely and efficiently
  • Must be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position
  • Must be able to work at heights, in confined spaces and have the ability to climb staircases and ladders of varying sizes with limited visibility.
  • Must be able to continuously stand, frequently work with arms extended at shoulder level and reaching above shoulder height.
