About The Position

Founded in 1981, Old Dominion Insulation is looking for a skilled insulator to install, repair, and maintain insulation systems on piping, ductwork, equipment, and mechanical systems in industrial and commercial construction environments. Because many projects are performed on government sites, candidates must be able to pass a background check to gain access to the government-based site. Requirements

  • Citizenship is required.
  • Prior construction experience preferred; OSHA-10 or -30 certification preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work extended hours as needed.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to read contract drawings and specifications.
  • Valid driver’s license if required to operate a company vehicle.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability to safely operate and maintain tools and equipment.
  • Experience using hand and power tools.
  • Commitment to safety and team collaboration.
  • Able to pass screening requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Install, remove, or repair insulation on ductwork, plumbing, HVAC piping, and other mechanical equipment.
  • Assess the scope of the job, accurately complete a material take-off, and follow contract documents to determine insulation types, thicknesses, and installation requirements.
  • Measure and cut various types of insulation to be applied to mechanical and plumbing systems.
  • Ability to measure, cut, and install metal jacketing around mechanical and plumbing systems.
  • Clean, prepare, and inspect surfaces prior to installation.
  • Apply insulation using approved materials and secure using tape, banding, and/or other fasteners.
  • Operate hand tools and power tools including knives, saws, staple guns, banding tools, drills, and specialty insulation equipment.
  • Use ladders, lifts, and scaffolding in compliance with fall protection and site safety requirements.
  • Follow all jobsite safety requirements including PPE, fall protection, respirator use, and hazard communication.
  • Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and other mandatory training.
  • Communicate clearly with foremen and construction managers regarding job status, challenges, and changes.
