Role Purpose Responsible for overall plant Instrumentation Technician maintenance and seeks to attain plant goals \in Safety, Quality, Production, Cost, GMP, and Environment. Repair and maintain all plant instrumentation in accordance with diagrams, sketches, maintenance and repair manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications Tate & Lyle complies with all local/state regulations requiring salary range transparency. When determining final compensation, we take into consideration: skillset, job scope, knowledge, prior experience, cost of living, market data, budget availability, and other factors as permitted by law. Requirements

  • Associates degree in an electronics or controls field OR previous industrial or military controls experience
  • Pre-employment drug screening
  • Understanding of standard plant electrical equipment (motors, starters, motor control circuits) including wiring and troubleshooting
  • Understand the principles of operation for the basic process instruments (level, pressure, flow, temperature)
  • Must be willing to work overtime including nights, weekends, holidays and shift work if duty calls. Currently we share call-in schedules on an as needed basis

Responsibilities

  • Ability to support all safety rules and identify and correct potential safety problems
  • Strong aptitude for Instrumentation knowledge, maintenance and test equipment
  • Must be able to use precision-measuring equipment to test instruments for performance during instrument repairs and preventive maintenance
  • Follow SOP’s and/or PM task instruction sets
  • Ability to troubleshoot instrumentation, equipment/systems as required
  • Maintain instrument maintenance and calibration on assigned machines
  • Dismantle instrumentation to gain access to and remove/replace defective parts
  • Identify and implement solutions to recurring instrument problems
  • Repair and maintain all plant instrumentation in accordance with diagrams, sketches, maintenance and repair manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications
  • Must be able to interface with a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to review work notifications, create work orders, record labor, look up spare parts and identify storeroom location
  • Ability to provide preventive maintenance to instrumentation, including process analyzers
  • Ability to identify needed repair parts from multiple sources, including vendor drawings and direct contact with manufacturers
  • Ability to work both in a team environment and individually as required
  • Communicate and work with other groups (process engineers, production technicians, quality control) as necessary to promote efficiency in problem solving and work scheduling
  • Demonstrated mechanical/electrical knowledge to analyze and solve problems on various process instrumentation
  • Able to inspect suspect parts to determine changes in performance using electrical multimeter, amp meter, signal generator, or other measuring instruments
  • Able to perform instrument calibrations and documentation
