About The Position

The Instrumentation Support Service group (ISS) is looking for a first shift, UAW represented technician who will be responsible for supporting maintenance and upgrades of all computer hardware and software required to support dynamometer testing. The Technician will also be responsible for network troubleshooting, connectivity checks and data communications issues as well as hardware and software troubleshooting and computer repairs. The Instrumentation Technician will also need to be able to assist in identifying, troubleshooting, and correcting problems in the field associated with dyno drives, dyno controllers, and associated equipment and instrumentation. The Instrumentation Technician will be required to work effectively with all levels of management, support engineers, union represented employees, and outside suppliers to maximize available runtime of test cells; including recommendation of modifications and root cause analysis.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma
  • 2+ years of experience with repairing and maintaining instrumentation equipment
  • Strong background in electronics and the ability to troubleshoot issues to the component level
  • Hands-on experience using electronic diagnostic tools
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware, operating systems and standard applications
  • Perform basic network troubleshooting including IP conflicts, connectivity and communication issues, and switch/port checks
  • Motivated self-starter with good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to complete job assignments in a timely and effective manner
  • Proficient with MS Office and Google Suite applications

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Automotive Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • 5+ years of experience with repairing and maintaining instrumentation equipment
  • Experience with troubleshooting dyno issues in a test cell and at remotely located dyno drives
  • Ability to program PLCs and troubleshoot PC issues
  • Provide end-user support for computers, printers and peripherals.
  • Support Windows and Linux environments, as well as vendor-specific hardware devices.
