About The Position

Merrick & Company is seeking a college or graduate school Geodesy/Survey student for a paid summer internship for Summer 2026 at our Atlanta, GA office. Imagine working on rewarding client projects and being exposed to unparalleled training and development opportunities! Must have graduation date after August 2026 to be eligible. The summer internship has a commitment of approximately mid-May through mid-August 2026. We will be accepting resumes for this opportunity until April 30, 2026. Resumes will be reviewed as they are received and followed by interviews. Timeframe subject to change. The Merrick Intern Program will provide an undergraduate or graduate student an opportunity to gain technical experience in the field of surveying. Our intern will be exposed to a variety of surveying projects including Boundary, ALTA, Easement, Right of Way, Topographic and As-built surveys. These surveys will be based on various methods of data collection such as GPS, total station, and laser scanning. The position requires the collaboration with other disciplines, ability to follow schedules and budget commitments, work independently, possess good written and oral communication skills and the ability to problem solve.

Requirements

  • Must have graduation date after August 2026 to be eligible.
  • Must be currently enrolled and entering junior year or higher of undergraduate degree.
  • Basic understanding of survey equipment.
  • Must be prepared to work in extreme weather conditions, i.e., heat, rain, cold, etc.
  • Hike to remote locations.
  • Ability to lift 60 lbs.
  • Ability to travel Monday - Thursday each week.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, a good driving record, and be insurable under Merrick’s insurance carrier.

Nice To Haves

  • Pursuing a surveying degree at an A.B.E.T. accredited university.
  • Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microstation v8, Bentley InRoads, and Carlson Survey.
  • Ability to do survey related research.
