The Instrumentation Engineer - Flight Test at GE Aviation is responsible for contributing to the design and development of products, solutions, and systems within the aviation defense sector. This role involves executing standard operational and technical tasks, typically under guidance, while also having the latitude to rearrange the sequence of tasks based on changing work situations. The engineer will demonstrate leadership by effectively communicating business goals, programs, and processes relevant to their area or business segment. Utilizing their expertise, they will solve problems and develop objectives for themselves and their team, impacting both short-term and long-term business goals. In this position, the engineer will execute analysis and evaluation of assigned projects to ensure they meet business standards and product requirements. They will broaden their knowledge of their technical discipline and may support specialized technical fields while acquiring higher-level skills. A basic understanding of key business drivers is essential, as is the ability to integrate their work with other teams. The engineer will have some autonomy in decision-making within a defined framework and will be expected to resolve issues that require technical knowledge and judgment. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, as the engineer may lead a junior team and develop strong customer relationships, serving as the interface between customers and GE. Responsibilities include maintaining communication with the Flight Test Operations (FTO) team, engineering customers, and airframe customers, recommending approaches to meet technical and program requirements, and formulating plans to achieve technical requirements and schedules. The engineer will also be responsible for documenting technical data, monitoring project status, participating in technical reviews, troubleshooting instrumentation issues, and ensuring data quality.
