About The Position

The Instrumentation Design Lead is responsible for overseeing the design of complex offshore instrument systems, utilizing CAD and intelligent instrumentation database software. This role involves leading major capital projects, managing workflow, and mentoring team members while ensuring the accuracy and quality of instrument design deliverables.

Requirements

  • Accredited drafting training and discipline training or prior working experience.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of Instrumentation drafting and design lead experience relating to Greenfield Deepwater Upstream Oil & Gas facilities using intelligent instrumentation software.
  • Understanding of basic upstream process systems.
  • Understanding of control systems architectural diagrams.
  • Strong knowledge of Fire and Gas systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Communication systems.
  • Knowledge of NEC, IEC, NEMA, ISA & ANSI standards.
  • Strong understanding of P&ID's.
  • Basic knowledge of ISA Instrument Symbols and Identification.
  • Basic knowledge of Instrument drawing terminology & symbology.
  • Proficient with design software (Smart Instrumentation, AutoCAD, and E3D).
  • Strong working knowledge of project execution using Smart Instrumentation.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and NEMA standards.
  • Working knowledge of Electrical Codes NEC and IEC.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC and DCS systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

  • Experience utilizing SharePoint for project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on Major Capital Projects and supervise and mentor others.
  • Manage project discipline workflow, budget, and deliverables.
  • Perform drawing corrections from supplied mark-ups.
  • Interface with other disciplines to ensure project alignment.
  • Produce instrument plan drawings using GA's, piping plans, etc.
  • Create instrument installation details using engineering data sheets.
  • Read and interpret vendor drawings and information.
  • Read engineering data such as data sheets, instrument list, cause and effects, cable schedule, etc.
  • Create control systems architectural diagrams using engineering data.
  • Create Smart instrument cable block diagrams, cable and conduit routing and layouts, instrument and J-Box wiring diagrams using info from P&ID's, GA's, IO list, and vendor data.
  • Create Smart Instrument Loop Diagrams from P&ID's.
  • Create cable schedules using cable block diagrams.
  • Check instrument drawings of others for accuracy.
  • Create preliminary drawing register from SOW and BOD.
  • Prepare man-hour estimates, schedules and CTR.
  • Perform field work independently to obtain accurate information and create sketches for the design of the project.
