Purpose Under supervision of the Supervisor of Utilities - Power Systems I&C, assist in performing journey-level installation, retrofit, modification, inspection, and preventive and corrective maintenance of instrumentation, and controls systems in an electrical generation and chill water production environment.

Requirements

Three years of journey level experience in the installation, repair, maintenance and operation of pneumatic or DDC instrumentation and control systems.
High school graduation or GED.
Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence.

Nice To Haves

At least 4 years of related apprentice level experience in the operation and maintenance of instrumentation and controls systems equipment for mechanical, electrical and industrial equipment.
Graduation from an accredited college in Industrial Instrumentation or related studies.
ISA level 1 certification.

Responsibilities

Assists in performing journey level installation, retrofit, and modification of campus utility meters, transmitters, automation valves, auxiliary control systems, and other monitoring equipment for electric power and chill water metering, distribution and generation systems in a power and chill water production environment. Maintains compliance with ISA best installation practices.
Assists in performing journey level preventive and corrective maintenance, and calibrations of campus utility meters, transmitters, automation valves, auxiliary control systems, and other monitoring equipment for electric power and chill water metering, distribution and generation systems in a power and chill water production environment. Maintains compliance with ISA best maintenance and calibration practices.
Assists in performing journey level detailed inspections on campus utility meters, transmitters, automation valves, auxiliary control systems, and other monitoring equipment for electric power and chill water metering, distribution and generation systems in a power and chill water production environment. Informs supervision of unusual conditions, problems, or deficiencies as related to equipment and corrects as necessary.
Assists in performing journey level troubleshooting of system problems which could require following detailed operational and maintenance procedures. Uses hand tools, and test and calibration equipment to troubleshoot campus utility meters, transmitters, automation valves, auxiliary control systems, and other monitoring equipment for electric power and chill water metering, distribution and generation systems in a power and chill water production environment.
Completes work orders and assignments as required using automated systems. Follows all University and UEM safety policies and procedures, take required safety training, and identifies and reports safety hazards. Complies with standards of workmanship and safety in the work place. Performs work tasks in a safe manner, wears appropriate personal protective equipment, and reports near misses and incidents. Identifies, reports, and corrects safety hazards. Works around hazardous materials, high temperatures, and loud environments. Performs elevated work on scaffolding, platforms, and personnel lifts. Works in confined spaces, including tunnels and man-holes. Operates bridge-cranes, hoists, forklifts and other equipment as required. Performs all instrumentation work adhering to ISA standards for safety in the workplace. Cleans and maintains all equipment, work areas, and vehicles. Maintains records of equipment repair, and inventory of spare parts and other materials. Works in conjunction with other trades and craft personnel in support of systems within a power and chill water production environment, utility tunnels, and campus buildings.
