About The Position

We're seeking a top-notch Instrumentation & Controls Technician with strong process industry experience (chemical, refining, food & beverage, pharma, oil & gas, power, water/wastewater, etc.). You'll be the go-to expert for instrumentation reliability, control loop performance, and PLC/HMI troubleshooting-including making small, well-documented logic and display enhancements to improve uptime, quality, and safety.

Requirements

  • Experience: 5+ years in a process plant environment (chemical, oil & gas, water/wastewater, etc.)
  • Documentation: Ability to read P&IDs, loop sheets, wiring diagrams; provide updates redlines; and maintain clear service notes.
  • Experience with Allen‑Bradley.
  • Knowledge of SIS/functional safety (SIL, IEC 61511) and proof-testing.
  • CMMS experience (e.g., Maintenance Connections, SAP) and good preventive/predictive maintenance habits.
  • Ability to work in industrial environments (noise, heat, heights), lift up to 50 lbs, and use PPE.
  • Comfortable with rotating/on-call support and occasional overtime or shutdown/turnaround work.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer an associate's degree in electronics, instrumentation, or a related field or Electronic or instrumentation training at a recognized trade or technical school
  • Familiarity with Endress Hauser, Honeywell, Schneider instruments and DCS/PLC platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electronic components and instrumentation.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues in control systems, instrumentation, and networks to minimize downtime.
  • Perform loop checks, instrument calibrations, and root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring issues.
  • Safely access PLCs (e.g., Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi) for online monitoring and minor logic/display changes.
  • Install, configure, calibrate, and maintain: RTDs/thermocouples, pressure transmitters/switches, control valves/positioners, mass flow meters (Coriolis, thermal, DP), level/flow/temperature devices. understands calibration, signal scaling, linearization, and loop integrity.
  • Interpret and work from P&IDs, loop sheets, instrument datasheets, wiring diagrams, and I/O lists.
  • Maintain intrinsically safe (IS) and explosion-proof (XP) systems.
  • Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO), hot work, confined space, and hazardous area procedures.
  • Document changes via CMMS, Change Management, and revision control; keep as-built drawings and backups current.
