Your Opportunity Engineering Internships at Stantec involve responsibilities and work that is quite varied and stimulating. In this position as an Engineering Intern, you will have the opportunity to be part of a team working on active projects and researching technology on Battery Energy Storage Systems, Electric Vehicle Charging Station, Hydrogen Fueling Station, Solar Farm Design. This is a great opportunity for a motivated, energetic individual who wants to challenge their abilities in a dynamic work environment. You will perform a variety of selected tasks and assignments to continue to develop knowledge and skills to help you succeed in the Energy Transition.

Requirements

  • Enrollment in an engineering discipline: i.e. Electrical
  • Strong technical proficiency.
  • Sound interpersonal, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven initiative, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • The Engineering Intern should have a Electrical Engineering focus with a minimum completion of 2nd year of an undergraduate engineering degree program.

Nice To Haves

  • Related experience in the renewal energy industry will be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in report preparation and assessments.
  • Assist in data integration with reliance on spreadsheets and databases.
  • Utilize applicable technical knowledge to add value to projects.
  • Strengthen technical knowledge through on-the-job, informal, and formal training.
  • Become familiar with and ensure appropriate reference material is utilized.
  • Become familiar with the applicable electrical codes and legislation.
  • Compliance with Stantec’s EH&S program.
  • Assist Project managers and engineers in daily project tasks as assigned
  • Establish and maintain positive client relationships.
  • Become familiar with ARC Flash analysis, and overcurrent protection coordination.
  • Prepare draft for Electrical Load Summary, define electric motor horsepower
  • Become familiar with Single Line Diagrams as well as Electrical Area Class drawings.
  • Assist Electrical designers in Single Line Diagrams and Area Class drawings
  • Become familiar with Control Philosphy preparation.
  • Become familiar with Cause and Effect Chart preparation.
  • Become familiar with Instrument and I/O list preparation.
