AtkinsRéalis is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Engineering Intern – Summer 2026 to join our Bothell, WA office. AtkinsRéalis is a world-class engineering services and nuclear organization. Our Internship Program, Explore, is designed for college students pursuing a degree in a STEM field and provides opportunities to learn what it’s like to work in a professional environment and apply what’s learned in class to the real-world challenges we face every day.

  • Learn to interpret and analyze various types of engineering drawings, including P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), electrical schematics, and loop diagrams
  • Assist in reviewing and verifying engineering drawings for accuracy
  • Maintain and update data in engineering databases or software tools
  • Under the mentorship of team members, learn to perform a variety of engineering tasks as it pertains to instrumentation and controls engineering, including sizing instrumentation, control valves, and designing process control logic
  • Must have completed 60 hours towards a chemical, mechanical, or electrical engineering degree from an ABET accredited program by the start of the internship (Summer 2026)
  • No experience is generally required if accepted into an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program in a related technical field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite products
  • Experience with AutoCAD (not required, but preferred)
  • Interest in control systems, instrumentation, and P&IDs
